A little over two years ago somehow I started fumbling my way around twitter as a way to invite others onto my farm to get a glimps of what everyday farm life is about.
Not long after I started using twitter I saw a tweet from Michele Payn-Knoper (@mpaynknoper) announcing a weekly chat aboutagriculture called #agchat. Of course I embraced this idea and Retweeted (shared) her message right away and participated as often as I could in the weekly conversation sharing my viewpoints about agriculture as well as first hand experience from my farm.
The weekly chat was so sucessfull not only with individuals that spend every day working in agriculture but also with others outside of agriculture that enjoyed watching and participating in the chat every week to learn more about how their food is raised and grown. That several individuals In the #AgChat community felt that it was time to expand the weekly chat outside of twitter.
On the first birthday of #AgChat the birth of the AgChat Foundation was announced with a mission to:
Empower farmers and ranchers to connect communities through social media platforms.
Well Today is the second is birthday of the weekly #agchat and the first birthday for the AgChat Foundation. To celebrate I did a little digging around facebook and borrowed a few pictures from individuals that have participated in a few of the AgChat events over the past year. Thanks to all who provided the pictures for the slideshow I prepared below!
